We are proud to carry Fargo Fleece coats again this year! These coats are made by hand so you know they are going to last. Double fleece, the print reverses to a solid color.

Machine wash and dry, you will love these coats. We have coats in the store for your pup to try on so you get the right fit. If you have a dog that needs a custom coat, from pugs to greyhounds to mastiffs, we can measure your dog for a custom made coat!

We are always on the lookout for great new products for your dog or cat. We spend a lot of time researching to make sure you are getting the best for your fur kids.  

 

We have a great new treat from Plato Pet Treats,  Hundur's Crunch Fish Treats for dogs are made from 100% fish sustainably sourced from Icelandic waters. These high protein, low fat treats are available in 3 sizes, Jerky Rolls, Jerky Fingers and Jerky Minis. Your dog will love the taste and you can feel good knowing you are giving them a healthy treat!

We are proud to announce we have Lotus canned foods for your dog or cat! Lotus Pet Foods are made in the USA, grain, carrageenan and BPA free and contain no GMO ingredients.

Walk your pup!

Autumn in NE Ohio can be a great time of year for outdoor activities. Many of our local Metroparks have walking trails that are perfect for walking with your dog.

South Central Park in North Ridgeville installed a paved walking path last year that is perfect for dogs and people, no worrying about muddy paths!

If you haven't already, give it a try. Elite K911 Dog Training and Behavior uses South Central Park for their Packwalks three times a week.

A combination of walking and obedience training, these are the perfect opportunity for you to work with your dog with controlled distractions!

Walks are held Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm, Saturdays at 9am. There is a $10 fee for each Packwalk, after 10 walks you get one free.

New At The Bakery

 

Getting your human kids ready to go back to school can be a very hectic time of year. After a summer of free time and outdoor activities it can also mean more time alone for your dog.

We have durable treat hiding toys to help keep your pup occupied as well as long lasting chews to keep them busy when you need to do something else.

The West Paw Toppl is a very durable treat hiding toy, it can be used with pumpkin or peanut butter as well as small, hard treats to keep your dog challenged and interested.

Bare Bites dehydrated beef liver treats are very popular with both dogs and cats, we now have Bare Bits Dog & Cat Food Seasoning! Small bits of dehydrated beef liver to sprinkle over wet or dry food for that extra tasty touch!

We proudly carry the Weruva line of canned dog  and cat foods. Made in Thailand in a human food facility, these foods are made according to the strictest safety policies. Weruva has added a line for dogs called Dogs in the Kitchen. Dogs in the Kitchen comes in a foil pouch, and at 2.8 ounces is perfect for small dogs or as a topper for bigger ones. Summer PackWalks

Our friends at Elite K911 Dog Training and Behavior are holding Packwalks at South Central Park in North Ridgeville this Summer! Monday and Wednesday at 7pm, Saturday at 9am. Enjoy the new paved walking path, get some fresh air and exercise and have the opportunity to work on obedience training with your dog. It's a great way to socialize your dog, and socialize with other dog lovers!

We are very excited to announce we will be at the Frostville Farmer's Market this year! Located in the Rocky River Metropark reservation at 24101 Cedar Point Rd (corner of Lewis & Cedar Point Rds) in North Olmsted, they have great vendors and unique items available. New At The Bakery

We have started baking up our seasonal treats, using fresh local ingredients!  

Right now we have Strawberry treats and Haagen Paws Strawberry frozen yogurt for your dog to enjoy! These berries came from local growers, and went from the berry patch to the baking table in less than 24 hours! It doesn't get any fresher then that! Watch for new treats as fresh fruit and produce becomes available!

Protect your Pup this Fourth of July

The 4th of July celebrates the birth of our nation and is a fun holiday for humans. For dogs however, it can be very scary. 

More dogs are lost over the 4th of July than at any other time. 

They get frightened by the loud fireworks and run, bolting out doors and over fences. Make sure your dog has a license and ID tag on their collar. A microchip can't be lost like a collar can, but you do have to register the chip!  

Have a quiet place for your dog during the fireworks, the basement is ideal because it is more soundproof that the house itself.  

Thundershirts in-store and online!

A Thundershirt works wonders for dogs with noisephobia, the stretchy, tight fitting coat swaddles your dog and helps decrease anxiety. The Thundershirt works best when you put it on well in advance of storms or fireworks.  We also have all sizes of the Thundershirts. Since a good fit is important, you can bring your dog in to try them on!

There are also herbal tinctures available to help calm  your dog during frightening events. We carry a variety of these tinctures, so come in and talk to us about the best choice for your dog.

Keep those joints happy!

With the warmer weather it is very tempting to head out with your dog and enjoy the lake or Metroparks. Just be careful to increase activity gradually for you and your dog. Strained and sore muscles are no fun for humans or canines.

A high quality joint supplement can help your dog keep moving without pain, and many vets are recommending starting glucosamine and chondroitin supplements when your dog reaches 1 year old, especially for larger breeds.

The oral products are given daily so there is a bit more work involved, but it is well worth it to avoid the side effects of the chemical preventatives. Herbal Tinctures for your Pets

We live in quite a toxic world. 

From food preservatives to chemicals in the air and water, you simply can't avoid being exposed to toxins. Your dog or cat is exposed to similar toxins that can have a profound effect on their health. 

There are steps you can take to help keep them healthy. 

A good diet, exercise and mental stimulation can go a long way toward preventing problems. Sometimes though, your pet is exposed to chemicals and toxins you simply can't avoid. 

Vaccinations, heart worm preventatives, or antibiotics for an infection are all examples of toxins that are processed by your dog or cats liver and kidneys. Chemicals in the public water supply such as chlorine, fluoride and other additives are also eliminated from the body by the liver and kidneys. 

To help keep your pet's elimination system functioning, there are herbal supplements available to support liver and kidney function in our pets. These are not meant to be used everyday, but can be an important source of support for your pets health when needed, after a course of antibiotics for example or after a dose of heart worm preventative.

The Animal Apawthecary Co makes a line of herbal tinctures designed for dogs and cats. They make two formulas specifically to help dogs and cats process toxins, to support liver and kidney function. These are Dandelion/Milk Thistle and Detox Blend. 
Milk Thistle Seed stimulates liver cell production, replacing damaged or dying liver cells. It also stimulates the gallbladder and kidneys, improving elimination of wastes and toxins. 

Dandelion root and leaf stimulate the liver to improve elimination of waste products and toxins in the blood. 

Together these herbal compounds can help keep the liver and kidneys functioning at peak efficiency, helping your pet to stay healthy and happy. 

Detox Blend contains additional herbs besides Milk Thistle and Dandelion Root and Leaf. Burdock Root to decrease histamine production in response to toxins stored in the liver, Alfalfa inactivates chemical carcinogens in the liver and decreases inflammation. 

Licorice Root is a blood cleanser, immune system stimulant and relieves pain, itching and inflammation. 

You will also see vegetable glycerin listed in the ingredients. This all natural substance has a sweet taste, making it easier to get your pet to take the tincture. 

A small amount of grain alcohol is used to extract the optimum quantities of active constituents from the cells of the plant, and is a necessary ingredient. 

Animal Apawthecary also has herbal supplements for senior pets, bladder health, digestive upsets or other problems your dog or cat might be experiencing. We are happy to answer any questions you might have regarding which formula would be best for your dog or cat.

Sad We Lost Sinta

As you may know, the North Ridgeville Police Dept. lost their K9 Officer Sinta to cancer. Sinta was a valued member of the North Ridgeville community and will be sadly missed.

To celebrate Officer Sinta's life we have baked some special treats. Proceeds from the sale of these treats will be donated to help the North Ridgeville Police Dept. raise funds for a new canine officer.

Pumpkin spelt pups

We are expanding our line of wheat free treats, offering more rye, oat and spelt choices. (Our treats are always corn and soy free). We have carob chip cannoli, an oat treat with carob chips and vanilla yogurt decoration your pup will love.  

Pumpkin spelt puppies are available now, as well as gluten free coconut snowflakes!

Did you add a new puppy to your family this holiday season? Get your little bundle of joy off to a great start! We can help you find a great food and training treats your pup will love. Good nutrition lays the foundation for good health, the sooner you start the better for your pup. We also have toys your pup will love, and chews that may save some shoes and table legs! Don't forget puppy obedience classes, not only for training but socialization. Puppies need social interaction with people and other dogs from an early age, puppy classes get them off to a great start.

Learning shouldn't stop with basic obedience. Consider taking your dog to an advanced class for agility, nose work or tricks. We don't stop learning because we get old, we get old because we stop learning.
