Fargo Fleece is Back! 

We are happy to have coats from Fargo Fleece again for this winter! These coats are made by hand in Westlake, with a great deal of pride. Double fleece, they reverse from a print to a solid color so your dog will have style variety! Machine wash and dry, they are easy care, too. If you have an odd shaped dog, no worries! Fargo Fleece can make a custom coat to your dogs measurements. From tiny teacups to giant Danes, from slender greyhounds to round Bulldogs they can all be warm this winter. Muttluks are in! 

To keep your puppy's toes warm this winter we have Muttluks boots! Warm and durable, they will protect your dogs feet from the worst cold. Winter cold and harsh ice melt chemicals are tough on your dogs pads. Using  a moisturizer like Mushers Secret or Paw-Tection will help protect against cracking and bleeding. These are a blend of organic oils and waxes, used regularly they can help keep ice from collecting between the pads.

Raw Goat Milk 

We are very happy to carry Primal Raw Goat Milk! This milk comes from free range goats, hormone and antibiotic free. Fortified with digestive bacteria cultures, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric and inulin this product supports digestive health, the immune system and provides natural antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. Raw food on the go 

Have you been wanting to add a raw food to your pets diet but didn't want to go to a lot of hassle? We have two new products that will make it as easy as scooping kibble into a dish! Primal has a new product called Primal Pronto. These small pieces of frozen raw food thaw in just a few minutes so you don't have to plan ahead. Available in 5 protein formulas for dogs and 3 for cats, all are grain free and have organic fruits and vegetables. Primal Pronto can be used as a kibble topper or fed alone.

Stella & Chewy's has a new product called Meal Mixers. These are small freeze dried nuggets that can be scooped and measured as easily as kibble. They can be used as a kibble topper or fed alone. (Raw Milk is great to rehydrate these!) This is a great way to add variety to your pets diet as well as nutrition found only in raw foods!  Available in four flavors: Tantalizing Turkey, Chewy's Chicken, Savory Salmon & Cod, and Super Beef.

Zombie Walk

Saturday, September 6th

1-4 PM 

Calling all Zombie fans! We are looking for people to dress up and shamble with us in this event! All proceeds go to the Second Harvest Food Bank so it is for a terrific cause!  Please register by telephone, 440-353-1990. This is a dog friendly event, but be aware there will be people in costumes. If your dog is comfortable with that, bring them along! You don't have to be a zombie to join us, you can skip the make up and costume and go as a survivor!

The Big Splash

The 9th Annual Big Splash dog swim at the Avon Lake Municipal pool is from 12-5. There's swimming, contests, concession stand and adoptable dogs. There is something for everyone! All proceeds go to local animal rescues!  Click here for more scoop!

2nd Annual Puppy Poker Run & Cookout

Saturday, September 27th  

3-5 PM  

The run begins at the Grateful Dog Bakery at 3pm, where you will get your first playing card. Then the next stops are Don Mould's Plantation on Lorain Rd, Curvy Consignments on Center Ridge Rd and Gone to the Dogs Grooming at Rt 83 And Mills Rd. These stops are not in any particular order. Then at 5pm the run finishes up at Elite K911 on Cook Rd. Please park in the back lot of LCCC, then it's just a very short walk to the Elite K911 Training Center.

We will have hot dogs and hamburgers and all the traditional side dishes. (Vegetarian options are available, please let us know when you register.) Your pup will enjoy Cheesy Mac Muffins and Meatballs (both are gluten free).

There will be prizes for the top 3 poker hands and for the worst one. There will be a Chinese Raffle for some pretty awesome items. Please register by telephone at 440-353-1990. Fee is $20 per person/dog couple. $5 per extra dog, $10 per extra person. All proceeds will benefit Rescue K911 of North Ridgeville and For the Dogs Rescue of Youngstown.

Fresh from our ovens: Treats!

Treats are an important part of your dog's life, from small, tasty training treats to reward your new

puppy for learning to "I love you" treats for your adult dog. Treats are a big part of what we do at the Bakery. We are always looking for ways to make those tasty treats a healthy addition to your dog's diet.

Should treats replace food? 

No. 

Can they be a healthy adjunct? 

Absolutely yes.

Last Fall we proudly announced we were switching to Organic flours and brans in our recipes. This means no chemical pesticides or fertilizers and no GMO grains. Last summer we brought in a line of treats using locally grown fruits and berries, some we grew ourselves and some we bought from local organic growers. We are going to do that again this year, so look for seasonal treats reflecting what is available around us. We are blessed to be in an area with many local growers so we can bring your pup the best and freshest local ingredients.

For the pups that prefer a meat treat we carry several great lines of all meat choices. Bravo is an   Bare Bites makes a dehydrated beef liver treat that even the pickiest dogs love. These treats are a healthy addition to your dog's diet.

American company that uses North American ingredients for their freeze dried treats. Barkworthies is another one that has a wide range of protein sources, as is Grandma Lucy's and Stella &Chewys.

We are frequently asked why we don't bake treats for cats. 

Cats are obligate carnivores, they need all meat treats. We carry a full line of cat treats from great companies. Bare Bites liver treats are great for cats, Bravo, Grandma Lucy's and Stella & Chewys have healthy treats your cat will love.

There has been a lot of publicity about treat recalls and treats causing illness or death in pets. We can promise you that you won't find anything on our shelves with ingredients from foreign countries with low or no standards. The companies we use source their ingredients from North America or countries that hold to the European Standard. 

Everything we have is something we are comfortable feeding to our dogs and cat.

Freshly baked up for your pup!

We've got loads of handcrafted treats baked daily that are grrrreat gifts for your pup or pups in your family.  We like to sneak them on a decorative plate and see the first human sneak a bite.  Although totally safe for humans, our treats don't have the sweet factor your tastebuds are looking for in a cookie.  Beware if you're coming to our house for the holiday~ ha!
